I was born in San Francisco, CA, USA on August the 17th 1987. My parents had met in San Fran, but shortly after my birth we moved to South Orange, NJ, my true hometown. In South Orange, I grew up living the typical experience of a upper-middle class Jewish boy in the suburbs of New York City. The one thing that set me apart was my extracurricular activities – figure skating, followed by classical ballet.
From the 4th grade, until my senior year of high school, I was a student of the School of American Ballet. Commuting with steadily increading frequency into New York, I eventually switched to a private school in Manhatten from 7th grade onwards. From 7th grade until high school graduation, I commuted every weekday into NY on my own – it was pretty cool to be so independent from that age. Eventually I proved my reliabilty to my parents, as I had shown that I was okay, even though they had given enough rope to hang myself with (its a metaphor! deal with it).
By my senior year, I decided I could no longer ignore the clicking sensations I often experienced in my hips, and when physical therapy failed to help, I decided not to return to classes as I finished my senior year of school. The injury eliminated any doubt in my mind about what choices I had – college was the only logical option. I never really entertained the possibility of a career as a dancer, as I lacked some of the physical attributes desired in a dancer and I did very well in school. It seemed obvious, even without my injury, to go to college rather than become a mediocre dancer. When all was said and done, I matriculated at Tufts University upon my graduation from my high school – Professional Children’s School.

Hi! I didn’t read all this but saw that you said you did figure skating and ballet. That’s awesome (We need more guys like that here, our skating club (in fact our province!) has one pairs team and they always get to automatically go to the next competition… well they ARE good but still it would be nice to have more pairs teams)
Now i’m in dance, and am starting pointe this year (but probably only for this year because i’m going away for university next year.)
